HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Dayton took the lead in the first, 1-0, but NKU rattled off three runs in the home half of the first and then nine in the second to snatch an early 12-1 lead. In that second inning, both Tyler Shaneyfelt and Gabe Miranda hit two-run homers.
  • Dayton scored six unanswered before Gabe Miranda's second homer put the Norse up 13-7.
  • Another seven unanswered runs gave Dayton a 14-13 lead for just a moment, before Logen Devenport smashed a no-doubt, two-run home run to left center to put the Norse ahead for good. A sac fly from Braydon Rogers provided insurance as Evan Fry shut the door on Dayton's hopes.
