CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University Norse Softball program's 2025 season came to a close on Wednesday evening, as the Norse dropped a pair of games in the opening day of the Horizon League Softball Championship. A poor offensive day saw the Norse score just a single run across both games, despite multiple scoring opportunites.
THE BASICS (GAME ONE)
FINAL SCORE: Northern Kentucky – 1, Purdue Fort Wayne – 3
LOCATION: Viking Field - Cleveland, Ohio
RECORDS: NKU 22-26 (12-9 HL), PFW 19-24 (14-10 HL)
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Northern Kentucky recorded five hits and a walk.

Campbell Beatty,
Stella Wulker,
Trinity Robertson, and
Brielle DiMemmo all went 1-3 with singles.
Brooke Keltner went 1-1 with a pinch-hit single.

Emma Ginn reached base after being hit by a pitch twice and scored NKU's only run of the game.

Brooklyn Ballis threw all six innings for NKU, allowing three runs, eight hits, and no walks, striking out four batters.
NORSE NOTES
- Purdue Fort Wayne struck in the first inning, scoring on an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.
- NKU got level on an RBI groundout in the second as
Mack Brow brought in Ginn to tie it up.
- Purdue Fort Wayne took back the lead in the third, then added an extra run in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead. NKU stranded seven baserunners in game one.

- NKU recorded a pair of hits and walked three times.

Marley Gearld went 0-1 with a pair of walks.

Alicia Flores threw 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits, six runs, and three walks.

Brooklyn Ballis relieved Flores in the fourth and threw 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk.
- NKU's zero runs on the day were a first in all of conference play, and the first time the Norse put up zero since March 9.
