Women’s Soccer Falls to Eastern Kentucky in First Loss of Season

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse Women's Soccer traveled down to Eastern Kentucky on Thursday afternoon for a road matchup against the Colonels. Entering the match still undefeated, the Norse took an early advantage, but conceded a pair of second-half goals to take their first loss of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– The Norse scored early on, as Erykah Cornett was able to punch in a cross from Emilie Doersching to take a ninth-minute lead. The goal marked Cornett's fourth of the season, and Doersching's first assist. 
– EKU scored a pair of second-half goals to take the lead, and were able to hold on for the win. 
– The Norse were outshot 18-13 in the match, with the shot on goal battle ending in a 5-5 tie. 
– Eastern Kentucky won the corner battle, 6-2. 
– Norse keeper Megan Gessner made three saves in the match. 
– NKU forward Megan Molner led the Norse in shot attempts with four.

Northern Kentucky is back home next Thursday, taking on Oakland in the Horizon League opener, with kickoff set for 5 PM.
