CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse men's tennis opened up spring play at Thomas More on Saturday evening. The Norse took down the Saints in a sweep, opening the season strong.
In doubles play,
Emilio Bravo and
Jackson Poulos led things off with a 6-4 victory.
Hector Salvador Civera and
Joao Pimenta won 6-2 in the second slot, while Arnau Puig and newcomer Mateus Ranciaro won 6-4 in the third slot as the Norse swept doubles play.
Emilio Bravo, playing in the #1 slot for the Norse, took both of his sets by scores of 6-4 and 7-5.
Joao Pimenta won 6-3, 6-0 in the #2 slot, while
Jackson Poulos won 6-3, 6-3, in the third slot. Ranciaro's match went down to a tiebreaker, as he won 7-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7), as did
Dugan Fowler, who won 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5). Salvador sealed the Norse sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win to move the Norse to 1-0 on the year.
