Eaglin finishes fifth to lead Norse at Tom Tontimonia Invitational

WESTLAKE, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse men's golf continued the 2026 fall season on Monday and Tuesday, competing at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, hosted by Cleveland State at Lakewood Country Club. While the Norse finished 11th out of 12 competing teams, junior Caleb Eaglin posted a career-best fifth-place finish at the meet, finishing even par. 

Eaglin started red-hot, posting a 70 in the first round and a 69 in round two on the 70-par course. After two rounds, Eaglin was tied for the lead at the end of the first day. The Cold Spring native put in four birdies in round one, and five in round two, plus an eagle on hole 15. Eaglin had a solid finish on day two, finishing with a 74 with two birdies. 

Ben Carter, who competed as an individual, had the next-best score for the Norse at +7, tied for 27th overall. Like Eaglin, Carter started hot, scoring 74-69-77 over the two-day event. The Kentucky Wesleyan transfer birdied seven times overall and four times in the second round, including three straight from holes 5-7 in round two. 

Next up for the Norse were Michael Long and Paxton McKelvey, with the latter competing as an individual. Both Long and McKelvey finished tied for 50th overall at 12-over par. Long had a really rough start with an 83 in the first round, but bounced back with a very strong finish of 72 in round two and 70 in round three. He birdied seven times overall, including four times in the final round, and three times over his last five holes. McKelvey had a stronger start, with a 73 in round one and a 74 in round two, but scored a 78 in round three. McKelvey had six birdies overall. 

Grant Broughton finished tied for 65th with a +17, notching four birdies overall. Isaac Moody (T-76, +21), Brady Holmes (Individual, T-76, +21), and Micah Bertram (T-80, +23), rounded out the group of Norse competitors. 

Up next, Northern Kentucky heads to the Gateway Logistics Invitational hosted by Xavier. The event will run from October 19-20 at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.
