Women’s Basketball grinds out road win over Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball took on Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon, as every game becomes more impactful for an NKU squad battling among the top six of the Horizon League. The Norse overcame a poor shooting day by making tough shots down the stretch and made a critical late stop to ensure Northern Kentucky's ninth conference victory.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Both teams had poor shooting days, as the Norse shot just 31% from the field and 19.2% from three, but the Norse manufactured points at the free throw line, going 18-25 on freebies. Milwaukee shot 36.1% and 22.7% from deep, going 7-12 from the line, and the Panthers did not even attempt a free throw in the final period. 
- It was a back-and-forth affair between the two squads, featuring 18 lead changes and nine ties. 
- NKU put up numbers on the glass, outrebounding the Panthers 46-37 despite the Norse missing more shots than Milwaukee. 
- The turnover battle went slightly in favor of Milwaukee, which recorded 11 to NKU's 12. Northern Kentucky scored 10 points off those turnovers, while the Panthers had just five. 
- Mya Meredith led NKU with 18 points, going 5-11 from the field and 7-10 from the free throw line. She recorded five rebounds and two assists. 
- Karina Bystry was the only other Norse in double figures with 16 points, shooting 4-13 from the field and 7-9 from the free throw line. She grabbed six boards and dished out a pair of assists. 
- Abby Wolterman led the Norse in rebounds with ten and in blocks with two. 
- Mia Jordan went for seven points and seven rebounds, while Maddie Moody had six points and eight rebounds.
