Men’s Basketball takes down Purdue Fort Wayne for third-straight win

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University Norse men's basketball team faced Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday night, seeking revenge after dropping the first contest to the Mastodons back in December. The Norse pulled ahead late in the first half and held on in the second for a double-digit home victory, avenging their December loss.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
– Northern Kentucky shot 51.6% from the field, 34.5% from three, and 13-19 from the free throw line, while allowing Purdue Fort Wayne to shoot 41.5% on field goals, 37.0% from deep, and 17-22 from the line. The teams combined for just six free throw attempts in the first half, but 35 in the second half.
– The Norse won the turnover battle, 11-13. NKU recorded eight steals, with seven of those coming in the first half. Northern Kentucky scored 14 points off those Mastodon turnovers and 23 points on the fast break. 
– NKU also dominated the rebound battle, 37-29, grabbing eleven offensive boards while limiting PFW to just five. 
LJ Wells led the Norse with a banner night, scoring 29 points on 10-16 shooting and 8-11 shooting from the line. He stuffed the stat sheet with five assists, four rebounds, two blocks, and three steals. 
Tae Dozier set a new career-high with 15 rebounds, also scoring eight points and dishing out a pair of assists. 
Dan Gherezgher scored 13 points, recording three assists and two rebounds. 
Donovan Oday finished with 12 points, four assists, three steals, and a pair of rebounds. 
Kael Robinson scored 11 points in his first game since the start of February, drilling a pair of threes, and grabbing five rebounds. 
Ethan Elliott had a solid game in 35 minutes of action, scoring nine points on 4-4 shooting, grabbing five rebounds and recording four assists.
