Colton O’Hara earns #HLTF Outdoor Sportsmanship Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse track & field senior Colton O'Hara was named the recipient of the 2026 Horizon League Outdoor Sportsmanship award on Thursday, becoming the second Norse track & field student-athlete to earn the distinction. 

"I congratulate all of the finalists and recognize that there are many Track & Field student-athletes who are equally deserving of this recognition," said Norse head coach Steve Kruse. "NKU senior captain Colton O'Hara has been one of the most consistent all-around members on Northern Kentucky's cross country/track rosters. Colton has always been there to support anyone in our program and is a great representative for NKU athletics. Colton developed into a wonderful leader whom I knew could be counted on if other business called me away from practice; I'm grateful for the Horizon League and the coaches who recognized Colton as this year's Outdoor Track Men's Sportsmanship Award winner."

O'Hara just earned his seventh overall Horizon League All-Academic selection on Wednesday, as he has been named to five All-Academic teams and two honorable mentions. The Northern Kentucky senior capped a storied career in the 2026 outdoor campaign with the best 5000-meter and 10,000-meter times in the Horizon League. O'Hara ran a 14:06.71 in the 5K race at the Wake Forest Invitational and a 29:48.77 in the 10K race at the Raleigh Relays. In the classroom, O'Hara graduated with a Bachelor's in Information Systems and Business Analytics this spring, earning a spot on the dean's list on six occasions and the president's honors list once. He will begin his career at TQL as an Accounting Operations Analyst.
