Sydney Bray earns #HLVB Player of the Week honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a stellar weekend where she led Northern Kentucky University Norse women's volleyball to a pair of wins over Notre Dame and Duquesne, Sydney Bray earned Horizon League Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Monday.

"Syd is a phenomenal six rotation opposite," said Norse head coach Liz Hart. "She contributes to most statistical categories and capped the weekend with a double-double offensively and defensively. In addition, she reached 1,000 kills in her collegiate career against Notre Dame."

Bray crossed the thousand-kill plateau in NKU's win over Notre Dame, where Bray posted a season-best 15 kills on a .500 hitting percentage with 12 digs. It was her second match of the weekend with a double-double, as Bray went for 14 kills, ten digs, four service aces, and five blocks in a Norse win over Duquesne to open the Steve Baumrind Invitational. On the weekend, Bray totaled 48.0 points in 13 sets, racking up 39 kills on a .337 hitting percentage, six aces, 28 digs, and six total blocks.

Bray and the Norse wrap up non-conference play this weekend, taking on Miami (OH) in Oxford on Friday night before taking on the RedHawks in NKU's home opener on Saturday.
