Norse drop Horizon League opener to Youngstown State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer opened Horizon League play on Saturday afternoon, hosting Youngstown State as the Norse also celebrated senior day. NKU opened senior day with a bang, as Megan Molner scored in the seventh minute, but YSU equalized in the 18th minute, with the two sides tied one-all at halftime. Northern Kentucky had plenty of chances in the second half, including nine corner kicks, four in the first five minutes of the period, but the Penguins went ahead with a game-winning goal in the 78th minute.

– Northern Kentucky outshot the Penguins 17-6 in the match, with both teams recording five shots on goal. 
– NKU had nine corner kick attempts, all coming in the second half, to YSU's five in the match. 
– Molner led the Norse in shots with five and shots on goal with two. 
– Olivia Lengel, Caitlin Evans, Emma Gianino, and Kylie Anderson all recorded shots on goal. 
– Donna Bundy got the start in net, allowing one goal and making one save in 38 minutes, while Autumn Bishop relieved her late in the first half and finished the game, allowing one goal and making a pair of saves.
