Norse sweep Panthers to clinch sixth win in last seven contests

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – After opening the Horizon League portion of its schedule on Friday with a four-set win over Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky University Norse volleyball again took on the Panthers on Saturday afternoon. This time, it took just three sets for the Norse to take out Milwaukee, as NKU moved over .500 overall and to 2-0 in league play. 

Northern Kentucky hit .378 in a close first set to win 25-23. The Norse dominated early in set two, going up to 21-8, but allowed an 8-1 Panther run late before clinching it by a score of 25-18. NKU and Milwaukee battled in set three, with the two sides being tied at 16, before a 4-0 run from NKU put it out of reach as the Norse won, 25-21.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
– The Norse out-hit Milwaukee .235-.160, and bested the Panthers in every major statistical category, including aces, 8-4, assists, 43-37, digs, 49-43, and blocks, 10-7.
– While no Norse had more than ten kills, four posted eight or more kills, as Ava Hoying led the Norse with 14 points on the day. Horuing recorded ten kills with two aces and four blocks. 
– Sydney Bray had nine kills on 22 attacks with no errors, an ace, two blocks, and 13 digs. 
– Luci Heid had 10 kills on a .368 hitting percentage with three digs. 
– Ivey Stocks had eight kills with five total blocks, including two solos, with three digs. 
– Allison Risley aced four times and had four digs. 
– Katie Noschang had four kills on seven attacks, four blocks, three digs, and an ace. 
– Abby Pickard recorded 33 assists, three kills, a solo block, and four digs.
– Daisy Cluxton posted 12 digs and four assists.
