Courtney Boylan is entering her second season as an assistant coach at Northern Kentucky University.
Boylan, a four-year letterwinner at the University of Michigan, averaged 12.7 points per game as a senior and earned Big Ten Conference honorable mention accolades that season. She also averaged 32.1 minutes per contest and scored in double figures in 25 games that season as Michigan advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
A native of Chaska, Minn., Boylan was also named the most valuable player of that season’s Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. In addition, she finished her career with 844 points and shot 81.3 percent from the free-throw line while at Michigan.
“Courtney just completed her playing career at the University of Michigan and was the starting point guard in her senior season. She is a consummate leader and absolutely refuses to be outworked,” NKU head coach Dawn Plitzuweit said. “She led Michigan from the bottom of the Big Ten to two WNIT appearances and finished her career by leading the Wolverines to the NCAA Tournament. Courtney will be able to share her experiences as a player at the highest level and we are thrilled that she will be here at NKU.”
Boylan was named Minnesota's Miss Basketball after her senior season at Chaska High School. She was also named all-conference four times and was an all-state honoree her junior and senior years.
Boylan led her team to its first appearance in the state tournament in 10 years and a fourth-place finish her senior year. She holds school records for most 3-pointers in school history (212) and most points in a single game (43). Boylan is also Chaska’s career scoring leader (2,148 points).
