NKU volleyball extends winning streak to six with victories against Robert Morris, Urbana

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Shelby Buschur served up eight aces to lead the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team to a 25-7, 25-10, 25-7 win against Robert Morris (Ill.) on Sunday in Regents Hall.

Buschur collected seven aces during the first set for NKU, which hit a sizzling .458 en route to the easy non-conference victory. The Norse held Robert Morris to a -.123 hitting percentage and finished with 12 aces as a team.

Sarah Drennen recorded eight kills and attacked at a .467 clip for NKU. Noelle Peterson added five kills and hit .714, while teammate Ari Eaton finished with five kills.

Katie Sommer collected four kills and three blocks for the Norse. Sommer also attacked at a .571 clip as NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Jenna Schreiver dished out 26 assists as NKU totaled 31 kills and just four attack errors in the three-set victory. The Norse closed out the victory by hitting .583 in the third set.

NKU wrapped up the weekend later by posting a 25-13, 25-15, 25-12 win against Urbana. The Norse extended their winning streak to six and improved to 13-7 overall.

Buschur hit .647 with 12 kills against Urbana, while Drennen slammed down 14 kills and attacked at a .345 clip. The Norse offense continued its recent roll with a .420 hitting percentage, with Schreiver recording 36 assists. Kelly Morrissey served up five aces for NKU.

The Norse resume Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday with a road match against Lewis in Romeoville, Ill. On Saturday, NKU concludes the trip with a match at Wisconsin-Parkside.
