No. 11 NKU remains unbeaten (12-0) with 91-59 victory over Rockhurst

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Six players scored in double figures as unbeaten Northern Kentucky University won its 12th consecutive game with a 91-59 victory over Rockhurst on Saturday.

Tony Rack buried five 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead NKU, which is ranked No. 11 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Chad Jackson added 15 points, five assists and three steals, while DeAndre Nealy finished with 14 points and five blocked shots.

Jon Van Hoose made four 3-pointers and added 13 points for NKU, which was 13-for-21 from behind the arc. Ethan Faulkner scored 10 points and dished out five assists for the Norse, and Eshaunte Jones added 11 points and four assists.

NKU (12-0 overall, 4-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) shot 60.7 percent from the field and improved to 8-1 all-time against Rockhurst. Rack netted 15 points in the first half and Jackson scored 11 as NKU built a 44-32 lead at the break.

An alley-oop slam by Nealy off a pass from Van Hoose started a 12-2 NKU run in the second half that extended the Norse lead to 61-43. NKU led by as many as 37 points in the second half and remained tied for first place in the GLVC East Division.

Jackson and Nealy both shot 7-for-9 from the field, while Rack was 6-for-10. Stretch Watson pulled down a team-leading six rebounds for the Norse, who are 48-5 all-time in The Bank of Kentucky Center.

NKU dished out a total of 20 assists and committed just seven turnovers. James Robinson scored 17 points for Rockhurst, which dropped to 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the GLVC.

The Norse also presented head coach Dave Bezold with his 150th career victory on Saturday. In his eighth season, Bezold reached the 150-win plateau quicker than any previous coach in NKU history.

The 12-0 start is the second-best in Norse history, trailing only the 13-0 beginning during the 2000-01 season. The longest winning streak in Norse history is 16, set during the 1994-95 campaign.

NKU will attempt to tie the 13-0 start Thursday night on the road against Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo. The Norse also play at Drury next Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
