CHICAGO – In a match that came down to a showdown of the top doubles teams, the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team prevailed in a 4-3 win over Chicago State on Saturday morning.

Sydney Power and
Nicole Soutar defeated Faith Huckabee and Lorea Gamboa, 6-2, to improve to 3-1 on the year, Chicago State (2-9) leveled doubles play when Carynne Lloyd and Marnie Perez-Ochoa defeated NKU's
Yasmine Xantos and Rehanna Morehart, 7-5.
Hailey Shanahan and
Danielle Donahue, paired in the top flight, continued to battle, defeating Hanna Pangestu and Matea Roki, 7-5, to run their doubles record to 4-3 on the year and give the doubles point, and the match, to the Norse.
In singles play, Shanahan posted a come-from-behind victory in the top flight, defeating Pangestu, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, to tie the match at 3-3 prior to singles play.
Morehart and Donahue each got early break points in each set, parlaying the advantage to singles wins in their respective flights. Moreheart topped Huckabee, 6-2, 6-1, while Donahue beat Gamboa, 6-2, 6-2, for her team-best fourth singles victory of the season.
The Norse will close out their Windy City swing on Sunday when they take on Northern Iowa. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
