Soutar, Power take doubles win in loss to No. 26 Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Nicole Soutar and Sydney Power teamed up to take a doubles victory for the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team in a 5-0 loss to No. 26 Kentucky on Tuesday night from the Boone Tennis Complex.
 
Soutar and Power took the victory in the No. 3 doubles flight over UK's Kirsten Lewis and Taylor Lederman, 6-1. The pair is now a perfect 2-0 on the season after also picking up a win in Friday's match against Southeast Missouri. The Wildcats, however, picked up victories in the top two flights to claim the doubles point.
 
Power was solid in her singles match as well, falling to Lewis by a 7-5, 6-3 score in the No. 3 flight. Hailey Shanahan dropped the No. 1 singles match to UK's Aldila Sutjidai, who is ranked No. 125 nationally and ninth in the Ohio Valley Region by the ITA, 6-1, 6-1. Kentucky also got wins at No. 2 and No. 4 in singles to close out the match.
 
With the loss, NKU falls to 1-2 overall, while Kentucky improves to 7-1. The Norse return home on Saturday to join the men's team in taking on Dayton. First serve from Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills is set for 6 p.m.
