NASHVILLE, Tenn. –
Hailey Shanahan picked up a singles victory for the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team in a 6-1 loss to Lipscomb to close out Atlantic Sun Conference play on Saturday morning.
Shanahan took a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hannah Gamage in the top-flight singles contest to snap a nine-match losing streak and improve her singles record to 5-16 on the year.
It marked the only point for the Norse (6-14, 1-5 A-Sun) on the afternoon as the Lady Bisons (12-9, 3-3 A-Sun) swept through doubles play to open the match.

Sydney Power and
Sierra Nellessen both forced third sets in their singles matches. Power won a 6-4 first set over Deahna Welcher at No. 2 before Welcher came back to even thing up with a 6-3 set win. Welcher came through in the end, taking the super tiebreaker, 10-8.
At No. 6, Danielle Kinnen's 6-1 win over Nellessen in Set 1 was followed up by an 8-6 tiebreaker win in Set 2 for the Norse junior. Kinnen ended up taking the match with a 10-6 tiebreaker in the final set, snapping a three-match winning streak for Nellessen.
The Norse will close out the regular season on Tuesday afternoon in Dayton, Ohio, taking on Wright State. First serve is set for 1 p.m. NKU has qualified for the A-Sun Championship, to be contested April 17-19 in Jacksonville, Florida, at the UNF Tennis Complex.
