HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team (4-3-0, 1-0-0 Horizon League) will hit the road for a conference tilt with Detroit (3-2-3, 0-0-1 Horizon League) on Saturday at 2 p.m. The road contest will wrap-up an eight-game road stretch to open the 2015 season. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3, with links to live stats available at NKUNorse.com.
About DetroitDetroit enters Saturday's match following a draw with Horizon League foe Valparaiso on Sept. 18, 2015. The Titans sport three wins thus far in 2015 against Western Illinois (9/11), St. Bonaventure (9/13) and Michigan (9/16), two losses coming against Marshall (8/30) and Jacksonville (9/6), and two draws against IUPUI (8/28) and Stetson (9/4). Tyler Moorman leads Detroit offensively with four goals, while goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher holds a 3-2-3 record, 29 saves and a 1.03 goals-against average.
Last time against the TitansIn their first and only meeting the Norse faced off against the Titans at the Dayton Flyer Classic on Sept. 5, 2014 with Northern Kentucky getting the win 1-0 in overtime.

Hitting the booksIt was announced this week that the Norse earned the 2014-15 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award. It was the squads first time to receive the honor since 2000. The team posted a 3.19 grad point average to earn the distinction.
Last time outNorthern Kentucky defeated Wright State, 1-0, in double-overtime to get it's first-ever Horizon League win.
Diego Martinez netted the Golden Goal in the 108
th minute. Matinez took the ball across midfield then briefly got tangled up with a defender. The sophomore then spun and worked his way to the top of the box where he fired a shot beating the keeper straight away. Goalkeeper
A.J. Fleak recorded his fourth shutout of the season, finishing the match with eight saves on 22 shots faced.
Up next for the NorseFollowing its match with Detroit, Northern Kentucky will return to action in its home-opener in a League bout versus Belmont with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at the NKU Soccer Stadium on Wednesday.
