Norse WTEN travels to Wright State on Friday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team is set for its first Horizon League match on Friday when it travels to take on Wright State at South Regency Tennis Center at 11:30 a.m.

The Norse will be looking to avenge a 6-1 loss to the Raiders in the last regular season match of the 2015 season. Wright State enters the match with a 1-0 record after defeating Dayton in its lone dual match this season.

NKU is 1-1 to start the spring campaign after defeating Bowling Green 5-2 and falling at Louisville 7-0 in the first weekend of action. The duo of Sierra Nellessen and Sydney Power shined in both matches, posting a pair of doubles victories while the pair also picked up singles wins against BGSU.

In addition to facing nationally ranked competition at Louisville, Klara Skopac fought to a three-set victory against Bowling Green at No. 1 singles. Skopac is NKU's lone newcomer this season after transferring from Nicholls State. She joins two sophomores and four fellow juniors as Hailey Shanahan is NKU's only senior.

Following the match at Wright State, NKU travels to Peoria, Illinois to take on South Dakota on Feb. 12 and Bradley on Feb. 13.
