DAYTON, Ohio – Junior
Klara Skopac picked up her second singles victory of the season on Friday as the Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback against Wright State in NKU's first Horizon League match of the season.
Skopac's victory came in straight sets in the No. 1 singles flight. The Rijeka, Croatia, native defeated Taylor Culbertson 6-1, 6-3.
Sydney Power and
Danielle Donahue battled in their singles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Power recovered from a 6-0 first-set loss to take a 5-7 set-two win over Karoline Haller. Power fell in the third, 6-4.
Donahue dropped a pair of close sets, 7-5, 7-5, to WSU's Linsey Verstrepen.
The doubles team of Donahue and Skopac were tied 4-4 when Wright State came away with the doubles point after sealing victories in the second and third flight.
The Norse (1-2, 0-1 Horizon League) return to action on Friday, Feb. 12 when they travel to Peoria, Illinois for a set of matches against South Dakota on Friday and Bradley
on Saturday.
