HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team will travel to Memphis this weekend for a two-game series against the Tigers. The first game will be on Saturday, March 19, at 4 p.m. while the second game will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Sydney Ferrante went 1-for-4 with a double and what proved to be the game-winning RBI in the fourth inning. NKU was scheduled to face Dayton on Wednesday, but soggy field conditions forced the games to be postponed.
Scouting MemphisMemphis comes into the weekend riding a four-game winning streak. Prior to their matchup with NKU on Saturday, Memphis will play Northern Kentucky rival Cleveland State at 1 p.m. In the Tigers' last game against Belmont, Calli Irvin pitched 6.2 innings in relief and wound up with the victory after the Tigers scored two go-ahead runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-2 win and move to 13-15 on the year. Brittany Seale leads the Tigers in batting average at .361. She also leads the team in RBIs with 23 while teammate Lindsey Stickrod is a close second with 21. Molly Smith leads her team in a number of pitching categories. She leads the Tigers in appearances with 16 and starts with 10 while also leading the team in earned run average at 3.33. She has pitched 63 innings and struck out 44 batters.
The SeriesThis road trip will mark the first time that Northern Kentucky and Memphis have ever played each other in softball. NKU comes into the matchup with a 7-15 record while Memphis has a 13-15 record on the year.
Player of the WeekDani Devlin was named the Horizon League Player of the Week by College Sports Madness on Monday, March 15. The junior batted .357 in nine games last week with two doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored and 10 RBIs as the Norse picked up four wins over the span.
