HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team closes the regular season this weekend with home matches against Horizon League foes Milwaukee and Green Bay with League Tournament implications on the line.
NKU (7-10, 2-5 Horizon League) hosts the Panthers on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex. The Norse then turn around to host the Phoenix on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
Hailey Shanahan and Nicole Soutar will be recognized in a pre-match ceremony as part of Senior Day.
With victories over both the Panthers and Phoenix, NKU can qualify for the Horizon League Tournament April 29-May 1 in Ann Arbor, Michigan pending the result of the Milwaukee/Wright State match.
Entering the weekend, Klara Skopac has a team-best 10-6 record after competing exclusively at the No. 1 flight this spring. Skopac owns a 12-8 overall record on the year.
Skopac is 4-3 against Horizon League opponents, posting two-straight wins against Oakland and Detroit on April 9 and 10.
Sydney Power has also seen success this season as she sports a team-best 10-7 doubles record in dual matches and sits at 8-8 in singles with five of her wins coming at the No. 2 flight.
Milwaukee enters the weekend sitting fourth in the Horizon League standings with a 10-9 overall record and 4-3 HL record. The Panthers are led by Laurie Clark who owns a 21-9 overall record this year, including a 9-5 mark in dual matches at the No. 3 flight.
Green Bay sits 10th in the Horizon League and is 0-7 in League play. The Phoenix travel to Wright State on Saturday before taking on the Norse. Chiara Berg has a team-best five wins at the No. 3 flight while Olivia Headford and Stephanie Londre have split time at the No. 1 flight.
