CHICAGO – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback against UIC at the Flames Tennis Courts on Sunday.
Sierra Nellessen dropped a tough match to Bianca Zuzu at No. 6 singles. Both sets went into a tie-breaker for a final score of 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2).
Hailey Shanahan also saw a tiebreaker at No. 4 singles as the senior nearly recovered from a 6-1 loss in the opening set with a 7-6 (3) battle in the second.
In doubles play, Klara Skopac and Rheanna Morehart defeated Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika Leblanc, 6-4, at the No. 2 flight.
The Norse dipped to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the Horizon League as they wrapped up a seven-match road swing.
UIC improved to 9-5 overall and 3-0 in League contests.
NKU returns to action when it hosts Oakland on Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. and Detroit April 10 at 11 a.m. at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
