@NKUNorseSB hosts Detroit for #HLSB weekend series

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team returns to Horizon League action this weekend as the Norse host Detroit for a three-game series. Due to weather concerns, Friday's single game has been moved to a 3 p.m. start, with Saturday's doubleheader set for a noon start. Links to live stats are available at NKUNorse.com.

Last Time Out
Nicolette Hayes and Zahrya McFarland each put up three-hit games for the Norse as Morehead State swept a midweek doubleheader by scores of 5-0 and 6-2. McFarland added three stolen bases across the two games and Sydney Ferrante hit a rare infield triple and scored a run in the nightcap.
 
Scouting Detroit
The Titans enter the weekend series at 8-27 overall and 1-5 in Horizon League play after taking one of three games against Wright State last weekend. On the offensive side, Alyssa James leads the way, batting .307 with 13 RBIs. Savvy Ferstle follows up with a .267 batting average, two home runs and 16 RBIs. Ashley Mauser leads the Titans' pitching staff with a 5-9 record and a 4.38 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 86.1 innings.

Friday will mark the first meetings between the Norse and the Titans.
 
On Streaking
Nicolette Hayes enters the weekend with a team-best eight-game on-base streak after going 3-for-4 in the opener and drawing a walk in the nightcap against Morehead State. Hayes enters the weekend with a team-best .433 on-base percentage, ranking eighth among Horizon League regulars.
