XC Releases 2016 Schedule

HIGHLAND HEIGHT, Ky.- The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's cross country teams released their 2016 schedule on Friday.
 
The season unofficially begins with the NKU Alumni Race set for August 27, at the NKU Highland Heights Campus. The race will serve as a homecoming for former Northern Kentucky runners.
 
On September 3, the Norse officially begin the 2016 campaign at the 35th annual Queen City Classic hosted this year by Cincinnati. The men's team took second overall at the 2015 edition of the Queen City, while the women took sixth.
 
Following the Queen City Classic, the Norse travel to Nashville, Tennessee, on September 30, for the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt. The teams closeout the month at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday September 30.
 
A trip to Kernersville, North Carolina, awaits NKU on October 14, for the Wake Forest Invitational. After a two-week layoff, the Norse travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on October 29, for the 2016 Horizon League Championship hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
 
The 2016 season marks this first year that Northern Kentucky will be eligible for NCAA post-season competition since the program made the move to Division 1. The NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Virginia is set for November 11, with the NCAA Championship, hosted by Indiana State, scheduled for November 19.
