HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team wraps up its season-opening three-match road swing on Thursday when it travels to Eastern Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the EKU Soccer Field.

LAST TIME OUT: The Norse are coming off a 1-0 loss to Cincinnati on Monday in the inaugural Riverboat Rivalry at Nippert Stadium. NKU forward Macy Hamblin posted a match-high five shots, including two shots on goal while Norse goalkeeper Emily Lohmann had nine saves and faced 18 total shots. The lone goal of the game came in the 18th minute before Lohmann held the aggressive UC offense scoreless throughout the remainder of the match.

SCOUTING THE COLONELS: EKU opened the 2016 season with a 3-1 loss at Ball State, then fell to Xavier, 2-0, on Sunday at home. Jordan Foster has the Colonels' only goal of the season after firing just two shots thus far. Goalkeeper Anna Hall has logged every minute in goal so far and owns a .643 save percentage. Last season, Eastern Kentucky was 4-14-0 and tied for seventh in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 4-6-0 mark. EKU scored 0.89 goals per game while opponents averaged 2.06 last year. The squad returns seven starters from the 2015 squad including junior Emmi Carroll, who had a team-high seven points on three goals.

STEPPING UP: Lohmann, a sophomore, earned her first collegiate start and posted her first collegiate save in the season opener against Appalachian State and has seen all 180 minutes in goal so far this season. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native has 16 saves across two games and has faced 38 total shots after recording 33:46 minutes in goal off the bench last season.

EARLY STAT LEADERS: NKU has netted one goal across its first two matches. Hamblin deposited a header goal in the season opener. The goal was the junior's 15th of her career. She leads the squad with two points, seven shots and three shots on goal. Freshman Ally Perkins has the team's lone assist while Jessica Frey has been efficient early, launching just two shots, both of which were on target. Five Norse, Hamblin, Lohmann, Sami Rutowski, Katelyn Newton and Taylor Spaulding, have played every minute of the first two matches.

UP NEXT: Following the trip to Richmond, Kentucky, the Norse host Morehead State in the home opener on Monday, Aug. 29. The 7 p.m. kickoff will air on ESPN3.
