GREEN BAY, Wis. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis notched its first Horizon League win of the season, claiming a 6-1 victory over Green Bay on the road. With the win, the Norse move to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in League play, while the Phoenix drop to 0-8 (0-2 HL).
Match Notables
- The Norse got out to a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and 2 spots. Klara Skopac and Margita Sunjic blanked Green Bay's top duo of Tallie Piaskowski and Theresa Tebon, while Sydney Power and Sierra Nellssen went extra games against Jule Hermann and Chiara Berg in the No. 2 slot, winning 7-5.
- NKU won five of its six singles matchups, including four sets in which a game was not surrendered to Green Bay. Danielle Donahue did not drop a game in either set against Piaskowski in the No. 4 spot, winning 6-0 in both sets.
- Sunjic had a dominant effort in No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Olivia Headford. Yasmine Xantos posted the same score in her No. 6 singles match over Samm Pedersen.
- Skopac and Nellessen rounded out the singles winners for the Norse. Skopac took down Hermann in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while Nellessen claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tebon in the No. 5 spot.
- The Norse return home on Thursday, March 30, when the team will host Rhode Island. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
