HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's tennis fell to Youngstown State in its second match of the weekend, 5-2. With the loss, NKU drops to 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in League play, while Youngstown State moves to 15-6 (3-1 HL).
Match Notables
- Youngstown State pulled ahead to a 2-0 lead with a doubles point win with victories in the No. 1 and 2 matches before a straight-set win in No. 3 singles.
- Adrian Isache gave NKU its first point with his win in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1 over Luke Purser.
- The Penguins recorded two more wins to clinch the match, taking down the Norse on courts 2 and 4.
- Blaine Carr entered the lineup in the No. 6 singles spot, taking Gabriel Tolesani to three sets. Carr won the first set, 6-3, before dropping a 6-4 second set. He quickly jumped out to a lead in the tiebreak set, winning it 6-2.
- In the No. 1 singles spot, Mate Virag went three sets with Mitch Maroscher. YSU's top player took the first set in tiebreak, 7-6(6) before Virag rattled off a 6-4 win to force a third set. In the deciding set, Maroscher outlasted Virag in extra games, 7-5.
