HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Wright State, 7-3, in the opener of a three-game series on Friday at Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
The Raiders (28-12, 14-3) scored their first runs in the third inning and led the rest of the way. NKU dips to 15-26 overall and 8-9 in Horizon League play.
At the Plate
- NKU had nine hits in the contest, distributed among eight batters.
- Will Haueter led the Norse with a pair of RBI.
- Mike Moffatt went 2-for-4 at the plate while TJ Alas had an RBI, coming on a home run.
On the Mound
- Starter Jean-Francois Dionne (3-4) absorbed the loss after throwing the first 5.0 innings, allowing six hits and four runs, three of which were earned. He walked three and struck out three.
- Travis Rowland threw the sixth and gave up a pair of runs.
- Joe Martin entered the game in the seventh and picked up a pair of outs before being relieved by Cameron Ross.
- Ross faced the minimum in his 1.1 innings.
- WSU managed one hit and one run against closer Charlie Jerger.
Key Moments
- Both teams were retired in order to start the game and were held scoreless through the first two frames.
- A pair of RBI singles from the Raiders in the third and fourth innings put Wright State ahead, 3-0, through three and a half as NKU trailed the rest of the way.
- TJ Alas homered to lead off the top of the fourth and put NKU on the board.

- TJ Alas, who reached base in his 32nd-straight game, has homered in two-straight games to bring his season total to 10, just one behind team leader Trey Ganns (11). NKU has 35 home runs across 17 Horizon League games for a 2.06 per game average.
- Ross, who entered the weekend ranked sixth in the NCAA in pitching appearances, made his 26th appearance out of the bullpen.
- Across the last 15 games, Haueter is batting 21-for-54 (.389) with six RBI and 14 runs scored.
