CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team fell in a hard-fought match in overtime in a Horizon League showdown with Cleveland State University on the road Saturday night. NKU fell to 8-4-1 on the season and 4-1-1 in League play, while CSU moved to 9-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in League play. 
 
"We played very well in large stretches of the match," said Norse head coach Bob Sheehan. "It was a disappointing result tonight. We believe in our players and we look to our next match versus Oakland on Wednesday."

NKU SCORING SUMMARY

• Shawna Zaken gave the Norse a 1-0 lead in the 63^rd minute when Kailey Ivins played the ball to Erin Sutton who crossed it from the right flank to Zaken in front of the goal for the score.
• McKenna Vento tied the match in the 78^th minute. After receiving the ball from Sarah Krause, Vento found the back of the net from 10 yards out. 
• Jenna Prathapa scored the Golden Goal in overtime for CSU. In the 95^th minute, Dani Sowinski passed to Krause who sent a cross to Prathapa. She scored from close range.

•  Emily Lohmann recorded two saves on four shots faced for NKU.

 
FIRST HALF SUMMARY

• Cleveland State took the first shot in the match when Stacie Morris fired off an attempt in the 12^th minute that went wide right.
• The Vikings looked to score in the 12^th and 16^th minutes on shots by Prathapa,  which were both blocked by NKU.
• Northern Kentucky goalkeeper Emily Lohmann notched her first save of the match in the 16^th minute on a shot by CSU's McKenna Vento. 
• The Norse took their first shot in the 22^nd minute on a header by Chloe Mills that went high. Ally Perkins followed with a shot in the 26^th minute. It was blocked by CSU.
• Lohmann grabbed another save in the 30^th minute off of a shot by the Viking's Krause.
• NKU closed out the final five minutes of the half taking two shots, Ivins and Zaken made attempts in the 42^nd and 43^rd minute, respectively, but both went wide right.  

                          
SECOND HALF SUMMARY

• Samantha Duwel fired off NKU's first shot of the second half in the 47^th minute but it sailed high of the goal. Emily Soltes followed in the 51^st minute but her shot also sailed high.
• The Vikings took their first shot of the second frame in the 54^th minute on a header by Prathapa that went wide left. 
• Zaken broke the 0-0 deadlock giving the Norse a 1-0 lead when Ivins played the ball to Sutton who crossed the ball from the right flank to Zaken in front of the goal for the score.
• Zaken and Sutton fired off two more shots in the 69^th and 70^th minutes, respectively. Zaken's went wide right while Sutton's attempt was saved by CSU goalkeeper Stevie Holbrook.
• Cleveland State knotted the match in the 78^th minute on a goal by Vento. After receiving the ball from Sarah Krause, Vento found the back of the net from 10 yards out. 
• Each team took a shot in the final three minutes of the match but neither team could find the net.

 
OVERTIME

• Soltes took the first shot for NKU in overtime but it was blocked in the 91^st minute.
• Krause countered with a shot for CSU in the 92^nd minute but her attempted went high.
• In the 93^rd minute, Soltes took another shot for NKU but the attempt was just off the mark wide right.
• Prathapa scored the Golden Goal in overtime for CSU in the 95^th minute, Dani Sowinski passed to Krause who sent a cross to Prathapa who scored from close range.

 
MATCH NOTES

• Zaken notched her fifth goal on the season for the Norse.
• The match was Northern Kentucky's fifth overtime match of the season.
