Megan Molner tabbed #HLWSOC Offensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer senior forward Megan Molner added to an already incredible week on Monday, as she earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honors. Molner scored her 15th goal of the season on Saturday, leading the Norse to a victory over Wright State and became Northern Kentucky's single-season goals leader since the Norse joined NCAA Division I.

"We are incredibly proud of Megan and what she has accomplished this season, said Northern Kentucky head coach Bob Sheehan. "Breaking NKU's single-season goals and points records is an extraordinary achievement, particularly in a program with a rich history of talented players and outstanding offensive performances…While this is an incredible individual accomplishment, it is also a reflection of the teammates who have supported her, created opportunities, and contributed to our success throughout the season."

Molner helped get the scoring started for the Norse, recording an assist on Erykah Cornett's goal that gave NKU a 1-0 lead over the Raiders on Saturday. In the second half, the St. Louis native scored the record-breaking goal to put the Norse up 2-0, and later converted a penalty kick to stick the dagger in NKU's rivals, Wright State. With the victory, Northern Kentucky clinched a home quarterfinal match in this season's Horizon League Championships.

Molner's 15 goals and 34 points this season are the most in a single season in NKU's Divison I history, and the most overall since Amanda Mason had 15 goals and 43 points for the Norse in 2011. Her six game-winning goals are the second-most in NCAA Division I this season. Molner ranks 12th nationally in goals per game and 15th in the country in points per game.

Molner and the Norse are set to take on IU Indy in the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinals on Saturday, November 7 at 1 PM at NKU Soccer Stadium.
