CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis had a dominant showing against Green Bay with a 7-0 victory over the Phoenix. NKU moves to 4-7 overall and 2-2 against Horizon League opponents while Green Bay drops to 1-10 (0-5 HL).
Match Notables
- The Phoenix were short-handed due to injury, so the Norse won by walkover in both No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
- NKU secured the doubles point with a 6-0 win from Margita Sunjic and Maria Koo in No. 1 doubles over Theresa Tebon and Tallie Piaskowski. Taylor Culbertson and Alyssa DiFiglio followed up with a 6-2 victory over Samm Pedersen and Maria Neff in the No. 2 spot.
- Sunjic quickly defeated Tebon in the top flight, 6-1, 6-0 to give the Norse a 3-0 lead. She has won her past three singles matches in straight sets.
- Power clinched the victory out of the No. 3 spot, downing Neff in matching 6-1 sets.
- Culbertson finished shortly thereafter in No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Pedersen.
- Koo had a tight first set against Piaskowski in No. 2 singles, but pulled out the 7-5 win before sealing the match in the second, 6-0.
- Hannah Watton completed the sweep in No. 5 singles against Sterre Tijssens. She picked up a 6-3, 6-2 to wrap up action.
The Norse are back in action tomorrow against Milwaukee, with first serve scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
