HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team hosts Detroit Mercy on Sunday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
 
It will also be the team's Pink Game. Any fan wearing pink to the game will get in free. The Pink Ribbon Girls and NKU Athletics will host a jersey auction, and all donations go toward the Pink Ribbon Girls' mission of helping women fighting cancer and their families.

SERIES HISTORY
NKU leads the series 4-0-1. The teams last met on Sept. 30, 2017, and the Norse picked up a 2-1 victory.
 
LAST TIME OUT
NKU earned a point on the road in a 0-0 draw at Wright State. It was the fifth shutout of the season for Emily Lohmann and the NKU defense. The Norse were forced to play with 10 players beginning in the 58^th minute after a red card was issued.
 
TAKING A LOOK AT THE STATS
The Norse are 6-3-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in Horizon League play. NKU also sports a perfect 4-0 home record. The Norse are averaging 1.40 goals per contest while only allowing 0.80 goals per match. Emily Soltes leads the Horizon League in average goals per match with four goals in nine games.  Goalkeeper Emily Lohmann leads the Horizon League in shutouts at five. Emily Soltes leads the team with 10 points coming from four goals and two assists. Shawna Zaken has recorded three goals and two assists, and Samantha Duwel leads the team in assists at five. She has also added two goals this season.  
 
NCAA RPI
The Norse were ranked No. 92 in this week's NCAA RPI. NKU had the highest ranking out of all the Horizon League teams.
 
HORIZON LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lohmann was named the Nike® Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Aug. 27 for her play from Aug. 20-26. She recorded a shutout for the Norse in the 1-0 win over Xavier on Thursday evening. Lohmann faced 12 shots on the night and made five saves in the contest. She also had another good showing in a 1-0 overtime loss to Cincinnati on Sunday evening. Lohmann faced 18 shots and made six saves in that contest.
 
THIS YEAR'S SQUAD
The Norse return 17 players from last year's team and welcome six newcomers to the squad. Lily Menssen, Ashleigh Cronin, Morgan Jewell, Ella Holland, Madelyn Koewler and Chloe Mills are in their first seasons at NKU.
 
HEAD COACH BOB SHEEHAN
Bob Sheehan is in his 22^nd season at the helm of the NKU women's soccer team. He sports a 312-103-29 (.735) all-time record. Sheehan won his 300^th career match last season against Appalachian State on Aug. 29, 2017. His teams are 20-5-5 in Horizon League play and have a 4-1-1 record in the Horizon League Tournament.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Detroit Mercy is 3-5-3 on the year and 0-2-1 in the Horizon League. The Titans have wins over Central Michigan, Toledo and Madonna. In Horizon League play, Detroit Mercy has losses to UIC and Oakland, and the team tied IUPUI.

Detroit Mercy is averaging 0.73 goals per match and allowing 1.45 goals per contest. Julie Ann Piechocki and Carly Fiorido each have three goals this season, while Piechocki has added two assists. Goalkeeper Marina Manzo has started all 11 matches for the Titans. She has made 81 saves on the year for a 0.835 save percentage.
