KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northern Kentucky University freshman Alex Willis was tabbed as the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week for NCAA Division I, as announced by the organization this afternoon. Willis was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week and earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Willis, from Faversham, England, is tied for first in the NCAA with 15 points, and he ranks second nationally with six goals. Willis helped the Norse to a 3-2 victory against Canisius on Monday, Aug 27 with two goals and one assist. This past weekend, the Norse won 2-1 against Duquesne on Friday, Aug. 31, despite playing with nine men late in the second half. Willis scored both goals, including the game-winner against the Dukes in the 96^th minute to lead the Norse to victory. Willis followed suit on Sunday, Sept 2 with a goal and two assists to help the Norse defeat Robert Morris by a score of 3-2.
 
The Norse are back in action Saturday opening up the Horizon League schedule against Wright State on Saturday, Sept. 8^th. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at NKU Soccer Stadium, and the match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
