Dantez Walton was named the Nike
® Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a pair of games last week in which the senior put up career numbers. This marks the first player of the week honor of Walton's career.
In Northern Kentucky's 59-57 road win over Ball State on Wednesday, Walton poured in 18 points while grabbing six rebounds. He also distributed a trio of assists and picked up a pair of blocked shots.
For an encore, Walton scored a career-high 33 points and registered the second double-double of his career with 10 rebounds against Texas Southern. He made 11-of-21 shots, which included nine of his last 10 attempts, and drilled 6-of-11 3-point shots. The native of Lima, Ohio, also passed out three dimes and swiped a trio of steals.
Over the course of the week, Walton averaged 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and three assists per game.
The Norse are 4-2 on the year and host Midway (Ky.) Monday night at BB&T Arena. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
