CINCINNATI, Ohio – Northern Kentucky women's tennis earned a hard-fought victory over Youngstown State on Friday evening, 4-3. The Norse move to 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the Horizon League and the Penguins drop to 4-17 (1-5 Horizon).
Match Notables
- Youngstown State used wins in No. 2 and 3 doubles to take an early advantage.
- Katja Dijanezevic was the first to finish in singles action, handily defeating Elvira Esteo in No. 5 singles in matching 6-1 sets.
- Sunjic followed up with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the top flight, defeating Imaan Hassim. She has now defeated 19 Horizon League opponents in straight sets during her career.
- The Norse took a 3-1 lead following a victory from Elizabeth Rozin in No. 3 singles. She defeated Tamara Teufl, 6-4, 6-2.
- Youngstown State posted wins in No. 6 and 4 singles to tie the match up at 3-3.
- Maria Koo provided the winning point for the Norse out of No. 2 singles. Koo won the first set against Lisa Khamassi, 6-3, but fell in the second set, 7-5. She then went to tiebreak in the third set, emerging victorious, 7-6(7).
