Milwaukee edges @NKUNorseBSB in series finale, 4-2

MILWAUKEE – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Milwaukee in the series finale on Saturday by a final score of 4-2. NKU drops to 10-32 overall and 8-13 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee moves to 25-15 on the season and 13-7 in the league.
 
AT THE PLATE
ON THE MOUND
  • Kyle Service (L, 1-5) got the start on the mound. He pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits and a walk. He also struck out five batters.
  • Kaleb Meeks pitched the eighth inning. He gave up an unearned run on two hits and a walk. He also struck out a hitter.
KEY MOMENTS
  • Milwaukee went ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Tyler Bordner hit a two-run single in the frame, and Colin Kretier added an RBI single.
  • Doersching hit a solo home run in the top of the third to make the score 3-1.
  • In the top of the fourth, Pilat blasted a solo home run to cut the Milwaukee lead to one, 3-2.
  • The Panthers added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 4-2. Mitch Buban hit a single and took second on a passed ball. He advanced to third on a passed ball and came home on a throwing error.
GAME NOTES
  • Doersching's homer was his 11th of the season and 24th of his career, which puts him into sixth place in the NKU record books.
  • Pilat's home run was his second of the year.

  • NKU will play Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, April 30 at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Ky. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
