@NKUNorseTennis hits the road for Badger State

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky's men's and women's tennis will head to Wisconsin for weekend matchups against Horizon League foes Milwaukee and Green Bay. Action starts on Saturday, April 6, with the women taking on Milwaukee, which does not field a men's program, at 1 p.m. CT/2 ET. On Sunday, April 7, the men start the day at Green Bay with a 10 a.m. CT/11 ET match against the Phoenix, with the women to follow.

The women most recently fell at Cincinnati in a 4-0 decision. Maria Koo was the lone Norse to take a set off her opponent, winning the opening set against Antonella Bramato in the second flight, 6-3, before the match was abandoned. Last weekend, the Norse went 1-1, with Koo going undefeated out of the No. 2 spot against IUPUI and UIC.

The men dropped a pair of 5-2 decisions to IUPUI and UIC last weekend, but Nathan Schwartz and Jorge Rodriguez Agudo continued to win out of the No. 2 and 4 singles spots, respectively. Schwartz extended his winning streak to seven-straight matches and also picked up another win at No. 1 doubles with Blaine Carr, while Rodriguez Agudo moved to six-straight victories.

The Panthers hold a 9-8 overall record and are 2-2 in Horizon League play, defeating Youngstown State and Detroit Mercy while falling to Oakland and Cleveland State. Mayya Perova is coming off a 2-0 weekend for Milwaukee out of the No. 3 spot, and also teamed up with Nicole Clark to go undefeated atop the doubles lineup. Alex Belle headlines the singles lineup for Milwaukee, but holds a 1-3 mark in league play. Last year, NKU had a close victory over the Panthers, 4-3.

The Phoenix men are 4-11 this year and have yet to pick up a victory against a Division I opponent. Green Bay most recently fell to Youngstown State, 5-2, and Cleveland State, 7-0. The Phoenix got wins out of Dipin Wadhwa and Lachlan Napier in No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, in the setback to the Penguins. However, three of the four singles losses went to three sets, with three extended sets between them. In last year's meeting, Green Bay claimed a 5-2 win as the Norse won the doubles point and Felipe Hidalgo got a victory in No. 5 singles.

Green Bay's women are 3-11 overall and 0-4 in Horizon League play, with all four league opponents blanking the Phoenix. Yasin Glazbrook pushed three sets against Oakland and Cleveland State's top player, while Tiana Glazbrook and Kimberly Kaome each took a set off their opponents in the Detroit Mercy match. Last season, NKU handily defeated the Phoneix in a 7-0 decision.
