GREEN BAY, Wis. – Northern Kentucky women's tennis picked up a 6-1 road victory over Green Bay on Sunday afternoon, moving to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in Horizon League competition. The Phoenix drop to 3-13(0-6 Horizon).
Match Notables
- The Norse took the opening point with wins at the top of the doubles lineup. Margita Sunjic and Taylor Culbertson made quick work of Kiberly Kaome and Theresa Tebon in a 6-1 victory, with Maria Koo and Elizabeth Rozin defeating Tiana Glazbrook and Tallie Piaskowski, 6-2, shortly thereafter.
- Sunjic was the first to finish in singles action, downing Yasmin Glazbrook in the top match, 6-2, 6-1. She has now defeated 18 league opponents in straight sets during her career and went 2-0 over the weekend.
- Koo was also undefeated in singles play over the weekend, surrendering just one game to Tiana Glazbrook in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
- Katja Dijanezevic provided the clinching point for the Norse with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tebon in the No. 5 spot.
- Culbertson then added a 6-4, 6-3 win over Piaskowski in No. 4 singles to go undefeated on the weekend.
- Elizabeth Rozin chipped in NKU's sixth point out of the No. 3 spot in the lineup, taking down Kaome 6-1 in the first set before dropping a 6-4 second set. Rozin went on to win the deciding pro set, 10-4.
NKU hosts Youngstown State and Cleveland State next weekend in the final home matches of the regular season. The Norse face the Penguins on Friday, April 12, followed by the Vikings on Saturday, April 13. Both matches are set for 2:30 p.m. ET.
