HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky baseball dropped a 6-2 decision to UIC in the second game of its series, falling to 14-39 overall and 12-17 in Horizon League action. The Flames advance to 25-21 (17-11 Horizon).

On the Mound
  • Kyle Service (1-7) was charged with the loss, pitching 6.0 innings with three runs scored on eight hits.
  • Noah Richardson and Kaleb Meeks both spent time on the mound before Joe Martin closed out the contest with the final 2.0 innings of the game. Martin struck out two batters and walked two, allowing one run on two hits.
 
Key Moments
  • The Norse had a scoring opportunity in the first as Bacon and Murray led off with singles, but were stranded as the next three batters were retired in order. On their second at-bats in the third inning, the pair clubbed singles once more and Haueter singled up the middle to send Bacon home from second base.
  • Pilat led the fourth off with a double to center field, and he was driven in by a single from Luty.
  • UIC tied the contest up in the fifth with a two-run homer by Derrick Patrick.
  • The Flames took the lead in the sixth as Sean Dee clubbed a two-out RBI double to right center.
  • A pair of insurance runs came through in the seventh for UIC as the Flames loaded the bases and scored two on an RBI groundout and a single to left field.
  • UIC loaded the bases again in the eighth and scored on a wild pitch for its final run of the contest.

  • Haueter is now tied for ninth on NKU's all-time career RBI list, matching Mike Pitzer (1994-98) with 124 runs batted in.
