Mastin represents Norse at USATF U20 National Championship

MIRAMAR, Fla.- Northern Kentucky University track and field freshman Kyle Mastin represented the Norse on the national stage on Saturday competing in the 3,000m steeplechase at the USA Track and Field U20 National Championships. Mastin took seventh overall, posting a time of 9:39.36

"Kyle did a great job competing in some very hot south Florida weather conditions," head track and field coach Steve Kruse said. "Kyle got off to a conservative start but finished very strong against some of the best competition in the country. I'm very proud of what he's accomplished representing us on such a big stage."

This marks the second time in the Division I era that a Norse freshman has represented the program at the USATF U20 National Championship. In 2015, John Michael Griffith was the first to qualify, placing 11th in 3,000m steeplechase (9:57.38).
