NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Northern Kentucky women's soccer team began the 2019 season with a scoring frenzy, besting Lipscomb, 4-0, on Thursday night at Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Four different Norse players sent shots into the net.
"Kevin has built a powerful program at Lipscomb and we enjoy the relationship that we have with all of them," said NKU head coach
Bob Sheehan. "They are defending A-Sun champions and we knew that this match was going to present significant challenges for us. They have an excellent team and will compete for another championship this year.
"Mimi was outstanding in goal tonight in just her first intercollegiate match. Our back line and our midfield dug in and competed for everything. We were very pleased with the manner in which we scored four goals on the road. Megan's corner kick was well placed and a great first goal of the season for us; Ally's goal was exceptionally well-executed; Shawna jumped on a restart and demonstrated her skill in finishing for the third goal; The Kayla to Ally to Kailey goal was absolutely spectacular and scripted directly from the training ground. Tonight's win should provide us with some confidence moving forward."
