HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's soccer head coach Bob Sheehan has announced the signing of Lydia Self for the 2021 fall season.
"Lydia possesses a high skill level and an outstanding work ethic," said Sheehan. "Lydia is a strong presence on the backline. She is an excellent communicator with an impressive disposition on and off the field. Lydia has successfully competed at a high level on both her high school and club teams. She is a well-rounded student-athlete and her commitment to a wide variety of activities serves her well. She is an achiever both athletically and academically and we are thrilled to welcome Lydia to our program."
Self joins the Norse out of Hamilton Southeastern High School in Noblesville, Indiana. In her four years of playing at center back, she amassed five goals and an assist as the Royals went 40-15-7. She is a three-time All-State selection by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association, a two-time Academic All-State recipient and a three-time first team All-District honoree.
Self also plays for the Indy Premier Soccer Club coached by Kevin Ramirez and plans on majoring in exercise science upon enrolling at NKU.
