HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – For the second-straight season, Northern Kentucky's
Dantez Walton has been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team. He was also a 2019 NABC Honors Court honoree, making this year's award his third academic accolade in the last two seasons.
Walton currently sports a 3.64 GPA as an organizational leadership major and has thrice been a member of the Horizon League Honor Roll.
Not only does the Lima, Ohio, native take care of business in the classroom, Walton has also made his presence felt on the court. He's been a key cog in the Norse lineup for the last four years, winning two regular-season titles and two tournament titles since stepping on the court for NKU. Walton's also helped the Norse make two NCAA Tournament appearances and earn one NIT bid.
In his senior campaign, Walton is averaging 16.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He has three 30-point outings to his credit this year, two of which were 30-point double-doubles. Walton's numbers against only Division I opponents are even more impressive, rising to 17.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per outing.
The Norse are currently 21-8 on the season, including a 13-4 mark in the Horizon League standings that has NKU guaranteed of a top-2 league finish and a coveted double-bye into the semifinals of the postseason tournament.
Walton will be one of three Norse seniors honor pregame as Northern Kentucky hosts Wright State on Friday night to close out the regular season, with a share of the regular-season league title on the line for NKU. To purchase tickets online, please visit
