NKU’s Hubie Pivorius named #HLMBB Freshman of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky sharpshooter Hubie Pivorius has been named the Nike® Horizon League Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

The guard from Vilnius, Lithuania scored 11 points on 57.1% shooting (4-for-7), including a 3-for-6 mark from 3-point range, in the Norse's 81-68 overtime loss Saturday at Eastern Kentucky. He added a rebound, an assist and a steal in 17 minutes of action.

Pivorius' 47.9% perimeter shooting this season (23-of-48) ranks 17th nationally and first in the Horizon League. He's 107th in the country and second in the league in made 3-pointers per game (2.56) and 224th nationally in total made triples (23).

Pivorius is averaging 9.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 15.9 minutes through 10 games. He twice made five 3-pointers in home outings this season – against Wheeling in the Nov. 9 season opener and versus Alice Lloyd Dec. 12. Pivorius scored a career-best 20 points behind 7-for-10 (70%) shooting against Western Illinois Nov. 22.

NKU travels to Indiana University for a 7 p.m. clash Wednesday in Bloomington. The Norse (4-6) begin a five-game Horizon League homestand Dec. 30 against Green Bay at BB&T Arena.
