HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's basketball will host Canisius at BB&T Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 8, as part of its 2021-22 nonconference schedule. NKU previously announced a home matchup against UNCG on Friday, Nov. 12.
The Golden Griffins sported a 7-6 record last season, including a 7-5 mark in the MAAC. Cincinnati native Malek Green led Canisius in scoring (13.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg). In the last five seasons under head coach Reggie Witherspoon, the Griffs have amassed a 73-71 record.
Northern Kentucky and Canisius will be meeting for the first time ever on the hardwood.
NKU returns its top-six scorers off of last year's 14-11 squad. A trio of Norse –
Trevon Faulkner (16.7 ppg),
Marques Warrick (15.8) and
Bryson Langdon (10.7) – averaged double figures in the scoring column, while
Adrian Nelson became the first NKU player since the 1991-92 season and only the fourth all-time to average double-figures in rebounding. He corralled 10.0 rpg to go along with his 8.4 ppg. David Böhm and
Trey Robinson round out the top-six returning scorers at 7.5 and 5.3 ppg, respectively.
