INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky volleyball senior
Reilly Briggs was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week on Nov. 16, as announced by the league office this afternoon. This is her second #HLVB Player of the Week selection this season.
"Reilly had an incredible weekend averaging over four kills per set while hitting for a very high efficiency," said head coach
Liz Hart. "In addition to her 1.5 blocks per set!"
Briggs, a senior La Porte, Ind., continued to lead the Northern Kentucky offensive attack in the final weekend of the regular season, helping the Norse complete back-to-back sweep victories of both Youngstown State and Robert Morris. She finished the week totaling a combined 25 kills, 4.17 kills per set, 46 attempts, 29.5 points and a hitting percentage of .500 overall. Briggs also heavily contributed to NKU's winning efforts defensively with 9.0 overall blocks and five digs. She currently sits at 916 career kills in hopes of eclipsing the 1,000 career mark as Northern Kentucky heads into postseason play. Briggs also currently ranks fifth in the Horizon League in kills (311), eighth in hitting percentage (.279) and eighth in total blocks (90.0).
The Norse now set their sights on the 2022 Horizon League Championship Tournament next week. NKU will enter with the No. 2 overall seed and a quarterfinal round bye into the semifinals, where the Norse will face the highest remaining seed available. This contest is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6 PM (ET) from Dayton, Ohio inside the C.J. McLin Gymnasium, home of Wright State University.
