INDIANAPOLIS – After a standout week that featured back-to-back career performances and a perfect 2-0 record, Northern Kentucky's Jeramiah Israel was named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week, announced by league offices on Monday.
 
The Erlanger, Kentucky native went off for two huge games in the Norse's perfect week, highlighted by a big win over Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. Israel started the slate with 10 points, three rebounds and one assist in the victory over the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and followed it up with a 15-point, five-rebound, one-assist performance in the dub over EKU.
 
For the week, Israel hit at a blistering rate of 9-of-12 (.750) from the field, which included a mark of 5-of-7 (.714) from three. He also went a perfect 2-of-2 (1.000) from the charity stripe. He averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist over NKU's two victories and did all of it in just 38 minutes of action.
 
He also set career bests in points (15), field goals made (five) and attempted (six), three-pointers made (three) and rebounds (five) against the Colonels and has now gone for double-digit points in three games so far this season.
 
Israel is the second NKU student-athlete to earn a weekly conference honor so far this season as he joins Marques Warrick who was named the Horizon League's Player of the Week back on December 4. He is also the first Norse student-athlete to win the league's Freshman of the Week award since December 19, 2022.
 
The Norse hit the road for a cross-country trip to Saint Mary's on Thursday, December 21. Tip is set for 10 PM ET at the University Credit Union Pavilion. Fans and supporters will be able to watch the game nationwide on ESPN+ and hear the contest anywhere in the country on ESPN 1530.
