NEW ORLEANS – The Northern Kentucky track & field programs were awarded for their stellar work in the classroom as both the men's and women's teams were recognized as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honorees.
As a unit, the women's squad led the way as the group combined to post a 3.58 grade point average for the indoor and outdoor seasons. The men's team was right behind with a 3.49 cumulative GPA, the program's highest recorded GPA in school history.
From a conference perspective, five Horizon League women's teams and four men's team were honored with the USTFCCCA All-Academic award.
Northern Kentucky was also one of just four Horizon schools to have both its women's and men's teams honored with the All-Academic distinction.
To be eligible for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team awards, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on an institution's NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track & field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, which includes the most recent grading period.
