INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky men's basketball guard
Randall Pettus II has continued to step up in a big way in recent weeks and he was once again rewarded for his strong efforts as he was named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive time, announced by the league office on Monday.
The freshman guard continues to step into a larger role with the Norse in another big week. He started the two-game slate off with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists in a victory over Green Bay and followed it up with nine points, three boards, two helpers and two steals against Milwaukee.
For the week, the Bessemer City, North Carolina native averaged 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal per contest.
Since stepping into more of a sixth-man role for NKU in mid-January, Pettus II has totaled 9.3 points, 3.4 boards, 2.0 helpers and 1.6 swipes per game over his last nine contests. He has posted four double-digit point games during this stretch.
On the season, Pettus II is shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from beyond the arc.
